The Training Manager is Capt. Benny Garcia
Capt. Patricio “Benny” Garcia, a seasoned seafarer, completed his maritime studies in 1973 (Associate in Nautical Science ) and started his seafaring career on the same year on board a 33-year old ex-warship converted into general cargo ship. Have worked on board various types of vessels of mixed crew, from log to general cargo and heavylift ships and a stint with Arab American Oil Co. (ARAMCO) as a Vessel Traffic Advisor during the 80’s. Capt. Garcia started part time teaching maritime subjects in 1990 during his vacations as a sort of review in preparation for his fourth and final board examination and finally got his Master’s ticket in 1993 on which capacity he has served on board Panamax and Supramax sized vessels until he decided to start a career in dry land end of year 2008. Prior to joining IMEC, he was working as Asst. Mgr. for Marlow Navigation’s Cadet Development Program for a year and a half. He is presently undertaking Masteral studies in Ship and Port Management at Philippine Merchant Marine Academy’s Graduate School (PMMAGS).
The Assistant Manager is Ella Baybay
Ella Baybay is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the field of science research as a Marine Biologist for 15 years. A career shift in 2007 made her a marketing officer of BSM a shipping company based in Makati. After a year in BSM, she started working with International Maritime Employers’ Committee Ltd (IMEC) as a Personnel Assistant and then eventually becoming an Office Administrator. Still with IMEC she is now an Assistant Manager in-charge of administration and accounts while assisting with the organization’s local operations. Aside from her managerial functions she also provides support to the cadet program of IMEC by ensuring their welfare through proper guidance and counselling. Ella earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños.
